Here’s another issue WTKK’s delusional Margery Eagan won’t want to talk about: the thuggish behavior that seems to follow Martha Coakley as she travels to and from events.

Earlier, we noted a disturbing incident that occurred as Coakley arrived at Monday’s debate and was greeted by Brown supporters.

Now, video of a second violent dust-up has emerged, this time outside the DC restaurant where Coakley was attending a fundraiser hosted by piggish K Street lobbyists. This time, it was a Weekly Standard reporter who was on the receiving end of a violent outburst from someone in Coakley’s entourage. John McCormack says he was “pushed into a railing” by “someone with the Coakley campaign”.

Here’s the best clip, though far from conclusive, to emerge so far:

From his account posted at the Weekly Standard:

After taking a question from a CNN reporter on the street outside the restaurant, I asked her:

TWS: Attorney General Coakley, you said last night that there are no terrorists in Afghanistan–that they’re all in Yemen and Pakistan. Do you stand by that remark?

COAKLEY: I’m sorry, did someone else have a question?

GRIFF JENKINS, Fox News: I did. Why are you in Washington tonight?

COAKLEY: We planned an event after the primary that would be a unity event in Washington. We’re also in the middle of a very intense campaign [...]

After Coakley finished her answer, she began walking away from the restaurant, and I walked behind her asking why health care industry lobbyists were supporting her at the fundraiser. She didn’t reply.

As I walked down the street, a man who appeared to be associated with the Coakley campaign pushed me into a freestanding metal railing. I ended up on the sidewalk. I was fine. He helped me up from the ground, but kept pushing up against me, blocking my path toward Coakley down the street.

He asked if I was with the media, and I told him I work for THE WEEKLY STANDARD. When I asked him who he worked for he replied, “I work for me.” He demanded to see my credentials, and even though it was a public street, I showed them to him.

Red Mass has more and for added entertainment, their comment section has apparently been hijacked by the Party Opposite.

UPDATE: This story appears to have legs after all. The Boston Herald has a story in today’s edition, while an AP photographer appears to have caught some portion of the altercation:

As he continued to walk down the street, he said a man who appeared to be associated with Coakley’s campaign pushed him into a freestanding metal rail.

“I ended up on the sidewalk. I was fine. He helped me up from the ground, but kept pushing up against me, blocking my path toward Coakley down the street,” he wrote.

McCormack said the man asked him whether he was with the media and he responded he works for the Weekly Standard.

His online entry includes a YouTube video of the incident, in which you can hear a man ask McCormack if he’s OK after he fell. The reporter then tangles with the same man, showing him a press credential as he tries to make his way around him.

McCormack wrote he eventually caught up to Coakley, who declined to answer his question.

He said Coakley staffers informed him they don’t know who pushed him. In an updated blog post, McCormack writes he believes he was pushed by Michael Meehan, president of Blue Line Strategic Communications in Washington, D.C. The Associated Press also identifies the man as Meehan, based on photos and videotape of the incident.

A Coakley spokeswoman could not provide an immediate response to a Herald inquiry about McCormack’s account. Meehan did not immediately return an phone message or e-mail.

A message left for McCormack was not immediately returned.

Here’s the dishonest version of events asserted by The Globies / AP:

Reporter takes stumble chasing Mass. candidate

January 13, 2010

BOSTON—A reporter trying to question Massachusetts Senate candidate Martha Coakley was involved in a scuffle with one of her aides.

John McCormack of the Weekly Standard fell Tuesday night as he tried to speak with the Democrat while simultaneously videotaping her and trying to pass a metal grate on a Washington sidewalk.

Photos and video of the incident show Coakley aide Michael Meehan trying to help McCormack up. A scuffle broke out as Meehan tried to block McCormack and determine if he was an operative of a rival campaign.

Coakley is seen ignoring McCormack. The trip prompted criticism, since Coakley was in Washington seeking money from lobbyists while polls show a tightening race.

  1. Coakley is simply a slightly more youthful edition of Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi. Then they all can share Botox secrets.

  2. I have enjoyed the on air discussions of Martha’s phony accent. She has lived in Mass all her life, but pronounces words in a way that is foreign to New England. It is a manifestation of her ability to project a personna that is not really what she is.

  3. Chris? I could say Scott Brown is just a slightly younger version of Mitt Romney and Paul Cellucci. White, male Republicans. So what’s your point? White female democrats are nothing more than Botox users?

I am not in the tank for Coakley. I do support her. However I am thrilled with how the campaign is shaping up. Regardless of the winner, it’s become a close race and that is a GOOD thing.

I’ve gotten some crap on other blogs for some of what I’ve written, and sometimes here as well. But let me tell you here and now, it’s the political process that excites me- not if my candidate wins or loses. We all lose if people don’t get involved, and at one point in this campaign, it certainly felt that way.

I will not freak out if Coakley loses, even though I support her. If Brown wins, he does his 2 years. And the voters of MA another chance in six years to keep or replace him (or her). Truth be told, I am not worried about the health care bill. Without a decent public option, it’s useless. Yeah, it would be nice for the rest of the country, but we already have Mass Health. I loved Ted Kennedy, but we must move on.

This is democracy at work. And I love it.

  4. Buccaneer, it’s actually 3 years, possibly minus however long the donk obstructionists postpone certifying Brown if he ends up winning.

I think a Brown victory is unlikely with all the drooling D lever-pulling zombies in this state, though there’s always the HOPE that enough of them won’t be able to resist voting for the Kennedy on the ballot.

    “It’s the people’s seat.”

  5. C’mon, Cap. If Brown wins, MA is not gonna pull a Florida, or (what state is Franken from?).

If he wins, or she does, for that matter, and the margin is so close, a lengthier than usual certification is inevitable.

How wild is the fact that this Kennedy guy is on this ballot- for this special election- to fill Ted Kennedy’s seat? Where the hell did he even come from? Who planted the seed in his head to run in this election? Curious.

  6. This is fantastic. I hope he filed assault charges. And I hope he got the name of the Coakley staff who denied knowing who he was. And you have a picture of Martha Coakley standing next to the perp. Does she know who he is?

  7. p, The notion that they’ll take their sweet time certifying the results comes from statements made by Galvin, not from some wild conjecture from the other side.

How is it “wild”? The dummies in this state elected a Gillette stockboy to be State Treasurer – one of the most powerful state offices – because his name happened to be “John F. Kennedy”. He managed to serve 3 consecutive terms that were concurrent to the Senate career of his namesake.

I suppose there’s no way to measure it, but I figure that there could be more potential Pavlovian votes for the “Kennedy” than legitimate Libertarian votes for the same candidate next Tuesday.

  8. Unenrolled, his name is Michael Meehan, a “consultant” who was sent by the donk machine in DC to help with Coakley’s “message”. I guess last night’s “message” was strongly delivered.

The guy does not look all that dissimilar to Term Limits Boy Marty “Andy” “Maxine” Meehan, but I haven’t found confirmation that it’s his brother. I’m assuming that to be the case, since Marty had a “strategist” working for him named Michael Meehan at one point.

  9. I still think Coakley will win (which is somewhat sickening), but I think the fact that the race is within 20 points in Massachusetts is extremely telling.

ABC news had a decent article (found on Drudge) saying that the Republicans have already won, that the nation’s disgust with our government has been made known and really – isn’t that what we want?

  10. Brian…..very funny “far from conclusive”.

Here’s my conclusion, this “reporter” is acting like a little girly-girl. A reporter being pushed aside? That’s news?

    Pa-lezzzzz.

  11. I believe Martha when she says she “didn’t see anything.” The photo above, which generates the tag “coakley-thug-attacks-reporter-2″ when you place your cursor over it, must have been retouched by the Brown Campaign to unfairly incriminate Martha by showing the assault and battery (which of course, Mr. Meehan was tricked into commiting) occurring less than 5′ from Ms. Coakley.

  12. pirate: Paul Celluci is white?… I thought he’s Eye-Talian.

If only Pelosi DID rely solely on BOTOX®, then her face wouldn’t look as bizarre from too much surgical tightening.

Romney’s had some questionable cosmetic surgery also, judging by his Bill Dauterive-from- King of the Hill-like eyes. Plus, all that hair dye and eye make-up he wears makes him look like a raccoon. Thanks Mitt for the healthcare scheme in Massachusetts you take credit for that fines you if you don’t purchase “health insurance.” Its constitutionality hasn’t been tested yet.

  13. Eye-tallian? Argio? I think that’s his license plate. I do know he’s been know to vacation on an island off Portugal where a long time friend who made a fortune on cement and concrete here in MA owns a villa. I’ve attended his annual cookout in Hudson a few times over the years, and Argio’s car is always there.

And, yes, eye-tallians are white. Well, they’re olive, actually, but olive is a white sub-category. Romney? He’s white on white.
