Now, it’s two columns in a row, demonstrating beyond any doubt she’s got an unhinged fixation on Sarah Palin. Unfortunately, Margery’s got it backwards.
Fifteen minutes? Clearly, Palin’s not going away anytime soon.
Think what you want about Sarah Palin, but when Margery’s alternative is the drab and bleak emptiness of Martha Coakley, who expects a US Senate seat to be handed to her for no reason beyond personal ambition, the former Alaska governor’s appeal grows exponentially.
Today’s piece also contains a particular gem in a plug for one of her touchy-feely colleagues at the ratings-challenged WTKK:
Before yesterday’s interview, life/business coach and WTKK talk host Mel Robbins offered an apt analysis of why Palin has been so polarizing. “Because she’s decided her brand is us vs. them, and since much of what she’s about is that she’s being attacked, when she’s attacked and you’re with her, you’re attacked, too.”
That’s a great way to score bonus points with the station’s beleaguered management ranks.

Be careful, lest Sarah Palin becomes your Tawana Brawley.
Eagan, for all her faults, is more right than wrong here. Palin is entitled to her point of view and her loyal following, but neither will represent a significant enough chunk of “real America”, as she might put it, to make her a national player. Neither of the successful Republican gubernatorial candidates wanted anything to do with her and you can expect more of the same from serious candidates in 2010 and 2012.
So, Eagan in her “column” cites “life/business coach and WTKK talk host Mel Robbins (translated that means she pays to be on the air to promote her ‘business coaching practice’) offered an apt analysis of why Palin has been so polarizing?” Is Eagan trying to have even LESS credibility?
Perhaps Eagan will quote McChele with one L, Spaghetti Sauce Mouth Curtis Sleaze-Wa, or Huggy in future columns to support her postion(s.)
Is this a not-so-hidden WTKK promotion in The Herald that Eagan is practicing?
What stands out for me in Margery’s columns is that undercurrent of unhappiness that is so typical of media lefties. She goes on in such a dour way about Palin’s presence on the political scene, her book, her family. Charles Krauthammer coined the phrase “Bush derangement syndrome” when explaining some of the mindless attacks on W. Margery ought to be happy. Obama and the Dems won big. Sarah lost. So is it hip to be depressed or what? Contrast Margery’s personality with Sarah’s and ask your self who you would want to be stuck next to an a long plane trip. See what I mean?
My take on this is that Magpie used to be afraid of the comments section in the Herald. Now, she really enjoys stirring up the pot. It is clear that most of her columns are now geared specifically to that. She’s reading this right now so Magpie, just nod in the affirmative.
The media Lefties are, almost universally, angry and enraged. Remember, ‘their guy’ was supposed to be making it ‘rain candy’ by now. Instead, he completely misrepresented himself and what his administration was going to do and accomplish. As water-carriers for all of Obama’s campaign lies, what’s happened so far has made not only Obama look bad, but these media ‘elites’ as well. So there’s that. Also, the media industry is in utter despair with no meaningful return of an advertising Tsunami. That’s their life blood, so cheer-leading for a President who effectively chased all that away leads to a sort of angry delusion that we’re seeing from every corner of the Leftist media world. Maggie is ‘one of them.’
Hope and change! Ha!
Yes we can! Double Ha!
The Left hates Sarah Palin because she has the power to cause REAL hope and REAL change. They KNOW she’s got this power. And so, they try to destroy her in every possible way. But her mere presence proves the Left wrong at every turn! She’s a real woman and should be held up as an example to all school kids! This is great! You go Sarah Palin!!
You’ve got my vote!
Nothing quite so pathetic as an elitist happy to be out of Fall River…
Palin will never run/be in office again. She is more interested in making $ off of books, etc. This is her warm up tour before she settles in at some desk on a talk-show. She got built up, then took the $ and ran. I don’t blame her.
Think Joe the plumber with staying power. Good for her. Cash in while you can. Show business is a tough game.
Marco, Spot on
Sarah, Move on
Sarah Palin does nothing for me politically. As conservative as I am she would not get my vote because she does not have the leadership needed to run the country. Of course neither does Obama.
I am amazed at how much the left hate her, I mean hate like they hated George Bush. Women are raking her over the coals on a lot of blogs. With all that is going on in this world, they can’t let go of her. The nasty comments about her giving birth to her downs syndrome child make me sick. It continues to amaze me.
Me, too, Jim. I’m a conservative, but would not vote for her if she ran. I don’t think she has what it takes to run the country, however, I think she has a lot going for her. I was amused by the fact that the AP has 11 people fact-checking her book-were all those fact-checkers asleep during the ACORN issues, Van Jones, etc…..?
Brian, “…Margery’s alternative is the drab and bleak emptiness of Martha Coakley”.
Comparing Palin to the “drab and bleak” Coakley- no, she’s good looking and she has that folksy , quirky personality- just your everyday good-time gal. And apparently that appeals to the nit-wits who don’t require a brain in their politicians. Ask Palin a question and unless it is a basic, general issue, she can’t answer. She’s similar to Michele McFalling-short as far as world views, history, etc., which is apparent. Ask her anything too heavy or complicated or difficult, and her lack of depth of understanding is apparent. She bitches and moans about the media, however she’s nothing more than a media- whore- using them to sell her book.
In regards to the left being fearful of her…..I have no fear of Palin. What I fear is the dumbing down of our country if she is considered a major political player.
And as far as the AP devoting 11 fact checker to her book, the FACTS are 10 people contributed to checking facts, some part time, some based on their field of expertise. Not 11 full-time fact checkers. Even so, maybe that’s a bit excessive, however after reading an advance copy of her book, apparently there was enough doubt to require further investigating. And the number of fact checkers the AP put on her book does not negate fact checking and/or reporting on ACORN, or any other news worthy issue they report on. They are the largest and most trusted source of international news.
So to conclude, I agree with Magpie’s column. However, the fact that she continues to write about her boils down to: getting hits on her column, even if negative, are better than nothing. Continuing to stir the pot allows her more time near said pot, and getting compensated so she can buy her own pot. Reading her columns convinces me that she is a big-time pothead. What else could explain those “columns”?
Jim and Ladyjane, you may be right that Palin may not be able to run the country, and I don’t know if I would or would not vote for her for President. But I DO KNOW that the only people in the Republican Party that have BALLS are: Palin, Bachmann and Cheney, and I ain’t talkin’ about Dick, but Liz his daughter.
Congratulations lefty woman!
Pro woman + anti Palin = the usual contradictory crap you get from the left. Your commitment to feminism is as temporary as a morning mist. Your vehement vocalization of feminism is a fraud. Your just like all the white men you hate, all you really care about is “whats in it for me”. Integrity from lefty women? Nada.
LOL!
You are now officially walking contradictions!
Funny!
The ‘funny’ comment was made in response to Medic’s last sentence; it was not making light of Sorenson’s post.
I am not convinced Palin is “the one.”
“Margery just can’t stop herself”
LOL. Oh the imagery.
Staffer: I feel so out of synch with J & M’s new time. No more spontaneous, “are you listening to the Magpie?”
I see she’s topping the charts with negative comments on her columns.
I haven’t been able to listen too often- and never a whole show, but she seems to be less giggly in the morning.
While I’m happy for them getting a primo time slot, it doesn’t work for me. I have a tough time in the morning, running around getting ready for work. If I’m lucky, I can catch the last 45-30 minutes of their show when I get into my office.
I do miss goofing on the Magpie.
Maggie is just acting like most of the loony liberal lefties who hate Sarah Palin. To paraphrase Bernie Goldberg, they hate her because she represents middle America. They hate her because she has five children. They hate her because she had the audacity to give birth to a down syndrome baby. They hate her because she’s a woman and conservative. And Maggie hates her because she is so attractive. Sorry Maggie, sometimes life isn’t fair.
Piratetoby…I have to say the glory days of goofing on Magpie via this blog might be over. Their morning show is usually my 2nd or third pick in the morning as I usually am with Toucher and Rich. Jim and Margery just don’t work for me in the morning slot. I also hate when they promote their lame old comedian friends like Jimmy Tingle. The worst though is when they defer to Magpie’s soft focused suburban mom topics. I can only handle so much of the show now that there are more suitable options available.
Staffer….pleeeeeze……say it ain’t so. There’s gotta be an opportunity or two, even in the new time slot, for Magpie goofs.
I did catch her Sub-Mom topic this am……Leggo waffles. She’s bent out of shape because there will be a shortage on these breakfast delights. I dunno why it’s so problematic for the Magpie. Is she still popping them in the toaster for her kids? Aren’t her kids like older than 15?
Growing up in my home, the rule was if you could reach the counter, you could manage toasting your own toasting.
That was the last topic I heard before flying out the door. Boy, am I grateful I didn’t miss that segment. A world without Leggo’s? Dreadful. I don’t know how much more depravation we can endure.
This Leggo shortage, I’m sure, can be traced back to Obama, yes? There’s really no other feasible explanation.
leggo my eggo.
You are missing Scott Brown debating himself. Jack E. Robinson did not show up.
Jack E. What a piece of work that man is. I’d love to hear Jack E. and Brown debate. Can you think of two more opposite men? Straight-laced, soft spoken family man Brown and Jack E?
I was surprised to hear Capuano stormed off the stage during a debate w/Brown and the other candidates (minus Coakley). Capuano started off very mild mannered and speaking in a very soothing tone. He seems to be getting short tempered and angrier as the campaign gets further along. I think he’s like to go ballistic against Coakley, but he doesn’t want to be the first to do it. The Globe suggests all three men (Dems) would like it to happen (going negative on Coakley), but none of them want to be the first one.
My prediction is Cap will be the first and soon. He’s got that “time bomb” feel about him. Coakley will respond with calm and measured ads. I don’t think she’ll get down in the dirt.
Ooops……is it obvious I have no kids?
The toaster waffles are Eggos and the little plastic building block toys are Leggos.
From a Globe article about a “progressive” radio station that nobody listens to, a mention of another source of liberal talk radio:
Yeah, she’s so conservative. What planet do Globe writes come from?
s/writes/writers/
Magpie doesn’t “counter” his liberal takes. Although she sometimes seems to disagree with Jim, it’s less about expressing a conservative viewpoint and more about poking fun at him.
Braude you know is a liberal. Magpie – I don’t know what she is. She’s just blowin’ in the wind.
B & E’s show would be more entertaining if, for example, they regularly discussed Braude’s pear-shaped lady hips and how he fits his big ass into his purple sweat pants. Is that why his NECN show is called “Broadside?”
I suspect Braude’s had a (cosmetic) eye job done recently. You can tell per his diagonal side view when he’s on TV. There’s more of a staring quality (more exposed sclera) now but he still has the empty-eyed look of someone with bad eye sight who has removed their glasses, even if it’s been corrected by contacts or lasek.
Pizza, are you serious? If I heard Magpie call Jim “pizza ass” one more time….and she can not EVER just mention Jim’s NECN show, she HAS to repeat the same thing EVERY TIME: Broadside colon the news with Jim Braude. He’s good natured about it, but really, can you give it a rest every once in a while, Magpie?
I’m curious how she’d respond to criticism about her looks on the air? I’m sure a big part of her goofing on Jim has more to do with HER and her own insecurities.
And Doctor, your always speculating on Big Jim’s cosmetic procedures. I don’t know about the staring thing- his eyes look no different to me.
On this morning’s show, did you hear Magpie ask the Big Guy what erectile dysfunction medication he prefers ?
Magpie: considering your “history” together asking that question says a lot more about you than it does about Jim.
Get it?
I (inadvertently) left my car radio on TKK and, going to work, heard the topic this morning: Male vs. Female view of the health care bill: Immediate reaction? how do I tell the difference????
Then they went into the botax etc. and I knew, well, y’all know
