The War Begins

The day we’ve been dreading for so long is finally here:

- The Globies have already remade Ted K into a saint. Expect the next thundering editorial to be aimed at the Pope for his slow pace in deifying the late senator.

- Don’t believe for a moment that Democrats have time for genuine mourning, the internal war over his successor is already underway. Calls to rewrite the 2004 law in order to provide their party with the advantage of incumbency will grow louder, especially from The Globies.

In fact, Beacon Hill ruling party sleazebags are already plotting and scheming as we speak.

One upshot: the political infighting and backstabbing will be fun to watch.

Another: if the rules are changed, the appointment process could easily destroy Deval Patrick for good, just ask David Paterson.

- Network news coverage could prove even more over-the-top than what is seen locally.

- As nonbelievers are singled out for scorn after making “insensitive” statements about Ted K, watch for the “gotcha” game to begin.

- Even token conservative Michael Graham’s WTKK-FM slot has been overtaken by flaky quasi-liberal talk today. A touchy-feely weekend advice talker is filling-in and providing syrupy, sugar-coated love letters to Ted K. No wonder the ratings are in the toilet.

Here’s a letter from a SaveWRKO reader:

WTF? Today of all days, you would think WTKK would want a news / political person — Dan Flynn maybe?

Even if there were not major breaking news, does it make sense to have a self-help guru covering a political talk show? Does Dr. Laura ever fill in for Rush? Maybe Dr. Dean Edell can fill in for Jay next time he’s on vacation. It’s been almost a week since he hasn’t had one.

It takes a lot to get me to listen to WRKO when Howie isn’t on, but the suits at ‘TKK are making it easier and easier.

— Perhaps trying to one-up WTKK’s leftward shift, WRKO actually dumped Rush Limbaugh and Laura Ingraham today, replacing them with convicted felon Tom Finneran, the corrupt former Democratic House Speaker.

Ted K’s passing provides the elitist, establishment media a chance to flex its muscles, perhaps for the last time. Don’t think for a moment The Globies aren’t prepared to take full advantage of this opportunity to sustain and promote political corruption in Massachusetts.

  1. I cannot muster any sympathy for a man who did his best to undermine the sovereignty and solvency of our nation. The harm he has done will last for decades to come. Perhaps in time we can undo the mess he left us. Good riddance.

  2. They’ve got that greasy WEEI announcer doing the “special broadcast about Ted’s passing” on WRKO. That guy is awful! Sounds like a broadcast school reject. Maybe it’s actually Jason Wolfe!!!

  3. I can’t think of anything he did that was beneficial to the country. I could care less about his personal life – his career as a politician embodied the very worst assaults upon the Constitution.

  4. The greasy WEEI announcer is <a href=”http://www.petesbits.com” Pete Gustin , who is legally blind and was thus nicknamed “Blindspot” by Howie and “Blind Pete” by Two Chicks Dishing (goes back a few yrs). He has some a lot of comedy bits, etc., on EEI and was used for some promos on RKO more recently

  5. Wow TKK.

    That is pretty disgusting.

All those little guys who were dissed ignored and stomped on by Tedd Kennedy and who now express this truth Tkk allows Mel to declare you, abusers in your private life.

I would say Mel emulates Ted Kennedy perfectly with that action!

    Thanks Mel.

Your thickly bigoted comments amount to one more “up yours” FORM LETTER from the office (grave) of TK.

    Congratulations.

  6. I couldn’t hit the tuner fast enough to get off WRKO when I heard that it was a ‘Very Special Episode…’, I didn’t even bother to wait who was hosting, I figured it would be the felon.

I went off to WTAG (thank goodness) to catch Rush. Then switched back a little later to see if it really was the felon.

    Disgusting.

  7. Peace to all of you who kept vigil

on behalf of the little guy: Mary Jo Kopechne family and friends, and never allowed the power mongers to thwart your efforts.

    Rest in peace Mary Jo.

Peace to all of you who kept vigil on behalf of the littlest guy, preborn children especially those of 9 month gestation who are legally brutally murdered in this country by partial birth abortion.

    Rest in peace little ones.

Peace to all of you keeping vigil over our constitution.

May the end of this chapter mark the beginning of a time when ALL citizens will have a voice at long last.

  8. I’ll admit he was an icon, and he was lucky to live so long with his diagnosis. I even started to feel sorry for him, until I read a piece describing how Mary Jo scratched and clawed at the car roof trying to get out. I got over my sadness, but still hope rests in peace. He deserves that, as would anyone.

  9. For the life of me, I will never understand people who have the need to post about Mary Jo on this day. Were you alive and/or old enough to remember that tragedy? Or is it just an another reason to bash Ted?

Love him or hate him, he was a human being. He just lost a painful battle with cancer. Pointing out his well documented flaws, the tragic mistakes he made in his life and his lack of “character” only shows the lack of class, respect and “charachter” of those who are compelled to post their lack of symaphty and compassion for another human being.

  10. Actually pirate. Kennedy had no pain from the brain cancer. The brain has NO nerve endings so he had no pain. Mary Jo experienced PAIN! After the requisite amount of Irish mourning, I am going to go out, rent a bottle of Irish Whiskey, drink it……………..well you figure out the rest!

  11. Well, I’m not into debating measures of pain in one’s death. One person died today, and what I am thinking of is the pain his family is feeling today.

I, for one, am proud to be from Massachusetts, proud of the Kennedy’s and their legacy. They were not “royalty” as many liked to refer to them as. No, they came from a self~made Irish immigrant (raised in Brockton) and a devoutly religious mother who instilled upon all her children the importance of helping the less fortunate. And, they were all human beings. Flesh and blood, just like the rest of us.

What causes me pain (right now) is reading this blog. I am sad, very sad. I think I’ll mourn without sharing it here.

With that being said, I’ll sign off.

    Peace out.

  13. Pirate, you do know that Brockton was affluent back then right?

“Joseph Patrick Kennedy is born in Boston to former stevedore, saloon owner, and local politician Patrick Joseph Kennedy and his wife Mary Augusta Hickey, daughter of an affluent family from suburban Brockton, Massachusetts”

  14. Yes, pirate I was alive, and although young, I do remember when Mary Jo died. If the whole truth about her death came out at the time, perhaps we could have been spared having Kennedy represent us for the last 40 years.

  15. I cannot say that convicted felon Tom “Two Pieces of Electrical Tape for Eyebrows” Finneran is much worse on the radio than his current partner, Todd “I used to pay RKO to broadcast my Sunday Infomercial so I could sell Ads for Bee Pollen Extract and Hair restoration Tonic” Feinberg. Now, he apparently has a “paying” weekday gig which, allows him to endorse wrinkle cream. Such deterioration of radio… Bill Smith has been reduced to voicing an ad for a “Soap-infused bath sponge!”

  16. No, Cricket, I didn’t know Brockton was affluent back then, because it was not. Like other contempory town/cities primarily known for manufacturing (Lowell, New Bedford)they all shared an affluent section, however their socio~economic status was primarily middle class factory workers.

Does one woman of affluence mean the whole city was affluent? Is that how you read your “quote”? Is that one quote, the basis for your “affluent Brockton” argument?

  17. I grew up in the area and it was mostly affluent. Why did you bring up the “Brockton” thing? To make it seem like they were poor?

  18. Attention conservatives. A good point made by Laura Ingraham on O’Reilly. Kennedy rarely compromised his principles. He fought hard and without apology for the liberal position. A lesson for so many wishy washy conservatives to learn and remember. Sometimes you can measure your success by the impassioned hatred of your adversaries. If they refer to you as “someone we can work with”, you aren’t working hard enough.

  19. Let’s all remember that Joe, the old man, made his money as a bootlegger, smuggling in Scotch during Prohibition!!!!!! Oh how soon we forget! Ted was given the Sacrament of the Sick, which I hope allowed him to confess that he killed Mary Jo, but that is between he and his confessor. I wonder what Mary Jo is going to say when and if they see each other? She will probably tell him. “I forgive you Ted.”

  20. How naive is McPhee?

I just heard her saying of this transparent switcheroo on the power of the governor to appoint the interim Senator that Kennedy would never cheat the political process the way they are doing how. HELLLOO? Hold on a second, sweetie. Who the hell does she think wrote the letter that got the ball rolling on the whole thing? And was behind taking the power away from Romney only 5 years ago?

  21. McPhee is not very bright, which I’m sure comes as no surprise to anyone. As far as Brockton, it was affluent, back in the day. Of course, you could say the same about Worcester.

  22. Change the law? Of course they will. It’s what democrats do in this state. Because the bozos keep voting them back in. Remember, Oct 1 your sales tax and meal tax are going up again and there will be nary a peep from anyone. Both are 6.25% now but will go up to 7% on that date. Like lambs to the slaughter, we let them push us down the path of tax and spend and we don’t make them answer for it. You can get their attention very quickly by voting them out in the next election. But you have to actually go and vote. JUST DO IT! You’ll feel so much better the day after.

  23. I find it ironic that Teddy K’ s body will be on display and buried at Arlington National. One of Teddy K’s worst deeds was to personally convince the Kopeckne’s to have Mary Jo’s body cremated at a time when cremation was rare with Catholics. The Kopechne’s later regreted that decision. Teddy K was afraid of a future autopsy that would have revealed the absolute truth about the incident. Every time the media displays his coffin this week, think about Teddy selling cremation to the distraught parents of Mary Jo.

  24. You just have to love the self-righteous, smug, sanctimonious people out there (you know who you are), who have the nerve to tell me how I should feel, and express those feelings about the passing of Ted Kennedy.

I think the guy was a scumbag, plain and simple. That’s how I feel.

I did not wish him dead, but I will not be sad about it.

I think he was hypocrisy at its worst.

    What am I sad about?

I’m sad that he killed Mary Jo.

I’m sad that he didn’t take better care of Joan.

I’m sad that he inexcusably and despicably insulted Robert Bork and went after Clarence Thomas. I’m sad that he foisted the immigration reform act of 1965 on us, telling his colleagues at the time “First, our cities will not be flooded with a million immigrants annually. Under the proposed bill, the present level of immigration remains substantially the same … Secondly, the ethnic mix (of the country) will not be upset.”

I’m sad Obama gave him the Presidential Medal of Freedom and I wonder how many aborted babies could have grown up to earn it had Kennedy been a true Catholic.

  25. Good Job V.

    This is a family loss.

All loss for families is a sad event.

    But for me,

At this loss, in all honesty,

I feel a sense of hope.

I feel and breathe a sigh of relief.

I feel maybe just maybe some day I will feel that I have some modicum of representation in Washington.

I have never for a day been represented in Washington.

    T. Kennedy exploited his power to win votes. Nothing more.

My tax dollars existed for Ted to pander to his constituents. He never ever cared that it may not be the “right” thing to do.

It is painful and difficult to watch the canonizing of this unrepentant power monger by those who are too ignorant to realize they were just used.

  26. How anyone can idolize this lying, cowardly jerk who should have been in jail for murder makes me want to puke. You people who voted to keep him in office for the past 40 years – did you ever benefit from anything he did? He had riches, did he ever share any with you? So much for his empathy for the poor and middle class, which he so emphatically claimed he had. He wants American citizen taxpayers to support everyone without health care, yet did he ever give any of his own money to pay for someone without health care? Think of all the good he could have done with his riches for the health of people just in Massachusettes, yet he personally did nothing but live in his mansion on Martha’s Vineyard eating and drinking his life away in piggish style. Great example you left, Ted. Did you leave anything in your will to help the people without health care?

  27. Kennedy killed–no–murdered a citizen of your state, for crying out loud!!! And you praise a murderer????? The man was rotten and evil. Good riddance!

  28. think the world would be a much better place if you all crawled back under the rocks you have been living under.

You are all a bunch of sad cases, complete with all the lingo you copied from Howie Carr, to take the time to tear down a man after his passing.

Even if you didn’t agree with the late Senator he spent his entire life working for causes he believed would make America place to live.

He could have spent his life sailing but his was in Washington year after year working for the people.

Thousands lined the streets and many ore waiting in line for hours to pay their respects. lets see how many show up at your funnerals
