Wow, somebody in this radio market finally showed some guts!
According to the Boston Herald’s Jessica Heslam, market radio legend Howie Carr is jumping from WRKO’s sinking ship and heading for crosstown rival WTKK-FM. Note:
Given the lousy way Carr’s been treated by Empress Kahn and Coffee Boy, it shouldn’t come as any surprise, but it’s still a huge and highly unexpected move.
Will this sink WRKO?

“This is a huge loss” to WRKO, said media critic Dan Kennedy. “Certainly the sense for a long time has been that ‘RKO has not been doing very well and Howie has been pretty much their one shining exception.”
GREAT NEWS for “da Capin”. I will miss Graham though. Maybe WTKK can loose Jay and replace Jay with Graham. Then all that’s left is to get Rush and I’ll win the Death pool with my pick of WRKO.
GREAT GREAT NEWS for my morning drive and to drive a stake into the heart of Empress Kahn. Not only will Carr BURY the felon, but he leaves a GAPING hole in the PM drive slot. A double edged sword.
What difference does it make?
They own and administer the site. I don’t have time for that kind of thing. When they have time they contribute but also have several other blogs to deal with.
This is great news. I listen to Howard Stern in the morning but they replay the show all day. Now I can listen to Howie Carr in the morning and Stern on the way home!
This is great because it just shows how inept Wolfe, Kahn, et al.

Why do you think Michael Graham is gone? I thought Howie was getting Imus’ spot. Doesn’t Graham go back to 10 am to noon? I could do with less Egan & Braude. Three hours is too long. they were funny with an hour and thought they could use more….but I was wrong, lol.
